I'm having trouble understanding this set up. I have the 622c triggers. Are you mounting this way to maintain remote power control of the RL600? And why do you need the middle accessory?

Thanks!

When FlashHavoc output the review with details on getting HSS working with the Rovelight, the stock transmitter was incorporated via a cold-shoe, pc sync cable, and a YN622 (or other that is capable of outputting a pre-signal for HSS). That setup eliminates the need for the YN622 on the Rovelight itself. But, you are then at the mercy of the stock transmitter's poor performance (which has lead to a replacement transmitter that is more powerful to avoid the mis-fires or lack of firing, etc). Personally I find it unnecessary, as it's more bulk on the camera and adds nothing to the system to do it. I went with the YN622 on the Rovelight itself, instead of trying to sneak in the pre-signal for HSS use via a cold-shoe to stock transmitter setup, like that, which has been unreliable since day one. Again, the newer transmitter replacing the stock one, may improve that, but it still lacks HSS and would still require a work around like that (the cold shoe option).

You retain the ability to change power levels on the Rovelight from the stock transmitter whether it's inline with your system or not. It does not have to be in the chain, so to speak, to change power levels. You can use YN622 on the Rovelight and 622 on your camera, with the stock transmitter in your pocket just for changing power.

Very best,

Save your money for gear, not shipping. It'll hit your door (assuming it's not backordered already!) in 2~3 days or so anyways.

Use that money to get a gel or something; very useful.

I picked up 1/2 CTO gel by Lee on Amazon for like $7. Huge 24 x 24 sheet. Cut to fit whatever you're using. I use it for bounce into a white umbrella to warm up the strobe when used in warmer temp light late day.

Very best,

DOWNER ALERT: standard shipping usually trudges along in the US around Thanksgiving.

Brenda,
I have a second battery for my one Rovelight. I shoot a lot of studio dance stuff using HSS and at full power. I get about 300-350 shots out of it before I have to switch. I get the same out of my Vagabond Mini with a 300WS strobe for reference.

Couldn't agree more. I could have opted for a store pickup, but added a few other items to my cart. Trying to get home with a RL and a roll of seamless by way of subway, bus, or taxi--my only means of transport--now that's a real problem. ;-)a

Down side to the Lithium batteries is that they degrade over time, used or not. It's one of the reasons I opted for the standard not the Lithium for my Elinchrom Quadra pack. I didn't think I would be using them enough to justify the degrading Lithium batteries.

I thought if you don't maintain your regular (non lithium) batteries like charging discharging them as recommended that they die much faster. I have no proof and haven't read much about it. All I know is that my Alien Bees VML that I bought when they just came out couple of yrs ago are still going. Same thing on my Dewalt tools with 20V lithium batteries. Just pick them up and start using irespective if they were charged 3 months ago. The NiCad stuff unless charged the night before used to be dead when I need to use them.

Something very strong. How much offset from the stand do you really need? If you can get away with an Extension arm and Griphead, then do that, but your stand's baby pin needs to be bombproof.
