I've read most of the thread but don't recall seeing this discussed (although I am quite sure it has). Can you achieve HSS with a set of Yongnuo 622s? I am pretty sure I understand that will control triggering, but the main remote has to be used to control power changes.

Yes you can. Maxvalue has documented it nicely.

^^^ Paul is correct! You can also trigger it in HSS mode with other triggers like the Phottix Odin.

600B has been one of the best additions I've had this year.

Triggered in HSS with a pair of YN-622C's. Shot through an umbrella on camera left.

Well, joined the owners group this morning. Added the 24x34 Sb and 13 ft boom to the light as well as the R1 trigger for HSS. Guess I'll have a backup to my 622s. Might get here before, but might not. That's what I get for waiting so long to order.

Hold onto the old triggers for now, please.

In the New Year when we are a bit less stressed you'll be getting returns labels sent to you.

I filled out a trigger replacement form. Will I be getting some kind of email about what to do next?

Q1: If I order this light now, will I get the V2 trigger?

Q2: I currently have an ODIN tx with 3 Mitros+ flashes for my Nikon D800. I am trying to figure the best way to implement the HSS feature and still use my flashes. The odin tx does not have an additional hot shoe that I can mount the rovelight trigger to. So I guess I would need to buy an ODIN receiver to attached to the rovelight and use the rovelight trigger hand held to adjust the light levels?

This may work better anyways if I am using a light meter I could trigger the light from the rovelight remote.

Thanks

Basically yes, although all you need for the Rovelight is a Strato II receiver - you don't need an Odin Rx even though you are triggering from an Odin TCU. The HS setting on your Odin TCU enacts the early trigger (with ODS timing if you like) - and that timing is obeyed by the Strato II Rx - while the 'H' setting on the Rovelight maintains long duration flashes down to 1/16th.

It works really well - see page 61 for a mounting option.

Hey Ocean Ripple,

Have you actually done HSS with the Odin Tx and the Strato II Rx? I am not doubting you at all, I tried researching this the other day and only found some comments on the Phottix Journal from circa 2013 saying the Strato II couldn't do HSS.

I'm interested because I have the Odin system for my speedlites, just got a Rovelight, and I would rather buy the cheaper Strato II over another Odin Rx.

Yes, you should get the V2 trigger. It will say V2 on the trigger package and the battery door of the trigger. If for some reason you get the older style, Adorama will upgrade it, just ask.

Thanks Ocean. I noticed that you are a Canon shooter. I am assuming the Strato II Multi will work with my Nikon set up as well?
