Al's excellent Belted Kingfisher shots gave me the bug so I went back to some shots I took about the time I first started photographing these birds. On this afternoon I went by my morning location just to see if the local lady would show up. When she did the light angle was all wrong but I rapped off a series to see what I could do with them. Here are the reprocessed results, taken at that time with my trusty 1D Mark II.

Very nicely done, Steve. I routinely reprocess photos. Often when I first take a batch, I'm in more of a hurry than I should be to process them. And sometimes there'll be something that keeps bugging me every time I view a certain photo that is easily fixed if I but take the time.

Fantastic! Well done! I have yet to get a good shot of our Kingfishers. They won't let me close.

I'm not sure what your originals looked like, but these are beautifully done!

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Thanks very much everyone. I made some color balance adjustments as well as opening up shadows a bit and I brightened the eyes some. Since I don't use a flash I tried to balance the shadows and lit areas without getting an excessively artificial look. This was a nice challenge but I won't make a habit of shooting at the less-than-ideal time of day.
