Hi,
Trying to decide between the Hahnel Tuff TTL Wireless Flash Trigger and the Yongnuo YN-622C Wireless TTL Flash Trigger, There is various threads but not comparing these two that I can find. I am just starting out and want to get my flash (Canon 430 ex)off the camera.
Thoughts?
Cheers
Jared
Right off the bat I'd say the YN-622C provides the ability to function with a top mounted ETTL (or manual) flash due to its full ETTL hotshoe on the top of the trigger. It also provides all the grouping functionality present in Canon's optical wireless protocol. As such it integrates with the flash menu system present in all Canon bodies since 2007. It has been in widespread use for 2 years and has a very large user base for support here on POTN. You won't need the flash groups right now with a single off camera flash but you will want it later once you add additional flash units. The YN-622C can grow with you.
It may just be me but I don't really see the point of the "tuff" features on the Hahnel trigger other than water resistance, and even on that one it won't do you a bit of good unless your camera body, lens, and flash unit are all equally sealed against moisture. The heat, cold, and shock tests the trigger passes in the Hahnel video would damage your other gear so what's the point?. I don't see the benefit of paying more money for many less features just for toughness.
