I have been dabbling in studio lighting for some time and now have the extra strobes to be able to add a hair light to my portraits. I have and use a light meter to set all my lights and have a basic knowledge of balancing the individual lights to achieve some modeling effect. The question I have is how many stops under (or over) the key light setting, should I set my hair light? I have a grid for it to control the spread which I think would be an added benefit as well. I have seen some really great portraits posted here where the hair light looks awesome and I hope to achiever similar results in my studio. I have some people coming over who would like some head shots done and I don't want to have to chimp around much when they get here. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
