Your prize I think Al is to know that what you share is seen by the few that post here regularly and can appreciate the effort you put in to your images. I know I do

Talk about a cocky Kingfisher Al!
That pose is all about angles, but beautiful ones as this one is obviously on alert about something. And I can only assume that the bullhead population is suffering mightily due to the presence of these master fishermen....uh, birds :)

Fantastic shots ! That 500mm is a nice lens for sure . That KF is eating what looks like a baby catfish . I'm amazed how they are able to swallow and not get stuck even if it is head first . They better not burb for sure !

They do indeed seem to have a cocky look about them; thanks for commenting, Steve.

Thank you kindly. We don't have catfish in our lake, so bullhead it is. On several occasions over the years I have seen them pulverize a bullhead before swallowing it so that they are sure it is dead and soft and cannot deploy their spines.

Bullhead is just one of the 27 different kinds of catfish (external link) . I remember seeing new groups of baby catfish swimming close to the water top but don't try pick one up bare handed like I did when I was young . I got both side barbs at the same time ith one little fellar . Talk about sting !! Lasted for hours !
