I was just browsing another forum and saw a new Lightroom plug-in mentioned that displays the active focus point used for photos shot with Canon and Nikon cameras in Lightroom.

This is a feature that has been requested for quite a while so I was glad to see someone attempting to fill the need. I downloaded and tested it briefly on a few images and it works (i.e. it shows the active focus point) although rendering of the images appears blurry. So far I've only tested it on DNG files so I'll see if it works better with native raw files.

Here's the link to the website: http://www.lightroomfocuspointsplugin.com/ (external link)

For Canon and Nikon cameras only. This is essentially beta software and the author is soliciting feedback on the plug-in.

Definitely. Sometimes, I look at my images and wonder where in the hell I was pointing the camera. Seriously... I'm too lazy to open an image in DPP, to see this. A plugin for LR would be great.

Wow... I might be out of luck. They list every camera (even the Rebels), but not the 7D. Unless I missed it. Entirely possible. I'll still try it. If I didn't miss it, maybe it's just an oversight, on their part.

I installed it in LR 5.6 on Win 7 64b. Seems to work well.

You do realize, I hope, that any program that 'displays the focus point' is showing you which AF sensor point was used, but NOT the subject within the frame that was used as the point of focus!

So whenever there is any 'recompose' (shifting of the frame edges for better composition) after focus, you see which focus zone
but not which object within the frame was use for AF.

This is good to know as I assumed LR had this capability to show the active focus point. I've used Apple's Aperture for the last few years, which has this very feature but Aperture is going away and I was planning on switching to LR. Does Photoshop have this feature?
