^^^Hey, stop being so critical, you! I can see a lot to like about that picture! (Except the cranky horizon!:D)

I like the colour, I like the composition, I like that glow of the sunrise, and I really like the fact that you were out there making pictures on a pretty awful morning.

Thanks very much, Richard. You're very kind, but well, let's just say that you liking that I was out there on a dreadful morning, yes, that I can understand!

Also, I took the jpeg to Photoshop and used the straighten tool. It looks more crooked than ever now, but then the other way. :D

Works for me! :D

I know mornings like that one in your image...from a fair part of a lifetime working out-doors! It looks REAL!

All right, so the horizon is straight then. I'll take your word for it! :D

And I wish it would look less real, then maybe it would be prettier...

I forgot to say that I love your industrial landscape, Richard.

Since this shot needs all the help it can get, I'm posting according to the new rules: 1280px on the long end, sorry about that! Not that it helps much as it is still completely boring.

And we all know that a big boring picture is better than a small boring picture. Remember, kids, whenever you can't find anything interesting in a photo you took, enlarge it!

Levina, your landscape isn't boring. When the week's topic is announced, you complain that you can't fulfill the assignment, you don't know what to do, your images will be awful, will everyone please forgive you for the garbage you are about to post, because you've never shot anything but birds. Then you post something wonderful that blows us away.

I've learned to ignore what you say about the quality of your work. Humility is a virtue unless taken to excess.

Levina, sorry I don't agree with you! Your photo is great, colorful (sun and grass), good contrast (clouds and water) and even better, goes with the topic great... Of course this is just my opinion :)

Ricardo222, wow what a contrast... beautiful background with man made middle and a water foreground

Thanks for that. I guess it proves that "landscapes" don't have to be pretty!

Thanks John.

Man, that higher altitude really gives intense colours and rich blue skies. I particularly like the simplicity of the second shot.

A 6.1 earthquake woke us up early this morning. Wide awake, but foggy outside so no good for early dawn landscapes.

Tim, after checking the USGS site to find out where this quake originated, I was just about to ask whether you got through it all right. It woke us up, too. The rolling lasted so long that I could tell that the epicenter wasn't close but the magnitude was enough to cause damage somewhere.

We lost a couple of pictures and some ceramics that fell off the fireplace mantle. The cat freaked out and hid under the bed.

When we remodeled the house 3 years ago we did a major seismic retrofit. The house suffered no damage.

Good, nothing else happened at your home. Some people did have major damage. There was at least one fire. Aftershocks are expected, so I'll stay out of uncertain locations for a while.

For those who wonder what Tim and I are talking about: http://www.cnn.com …uake/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 (external link) It was 3:30 a.m. local time.

Heard about the earthquake in N. Cali - biggest one since '89. Yikes. Hope the earth settles for you folks down there.

Went on a long hike on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail yesterday to get some "happy" landscapes, but included the one below from the drive up just for the "graphic" aspects of it....

Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This weeks the theme is Landscape (external link).

Well, this thread is working for me since I forced myself to find a little time and go out to find landscapes to shoot. I envy you all with clear/blue skies and clouds. My effort was a bust.
