I would like to rent Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L for August 23-24 weekend. I usually rent lenses to test from Adorama, since it is not far from my work, but they don't have it.

Is there another rental place in NYC that has that lens?

Or anyone in NYC or Brooklyn would lend it to me, please contact.

Thank you. But that's a bit far. Still hope to find it within NYC.

$38 overnight shipping + $46 rent + $25 shipping back = very expensive.

Would like to pick it up localy for a day or two.

P.S. borrowlenses.com also have it, if anyone interested.

I've used Lens Rentals.com and like them.

For me, the best part is the fact that they don't charge a deposit. I was in NYC and was going to rent a lens from, if I recall, B&H. They wanted a deposit to cover the full value of the lens. My current rating, thanks to a spiteful ex-wife, doesn't permit me to have a credit line to cover that. With Lens Rentals (and Borrow Lenses.com) that's not a concern. They don't charge a deposit.

They ship it to me door, and it arrives the day I need it to arrive. Shipping may or may not be pricey, depending on personal opinion, but I think they're a great service.

The shipping I've paid has always been in the $30.00 range, and that covers shipping both ways.

Of course, if you're renting on short notice, none of this really applies.

I didn't know that B&H rents equipment. I will ask them if they have 400mm 5.6. Adorama charges the full value of a lens as a deposit, too. I don't mind. Just don't want to pay for shipping, because in most cases it is not neccessary (and expensive if it is not for a job).

I just googled "lens rentals in nyc" and got quite a few locations. Try it and then use the phone to find what you want.

There are plenty rental places, but not one of them that I could find has 400mm.

Well then go to New Jersey, or rent a 300 f/2.8 and throw a 1.4× TC on it.
