Well, I turned on my HD80 today and it seems to be broken. Worse part, I've only used it a couple times since I bought it for when warm weather gets here. It works fine connected to the AC, but will not function off of the batteries. I switch it on and all that is displayed is the battery capacity indicator. The HDD doesn't spin up. Switched batteries, no luck. I looked on the web site, no support information. So I sent them an e-mail. I may be SOL.
Anyone else have any issues with this unit? What kind of customer support did you get?
thanks

Just FYI. I have had a miserable time getting this unit exchanged. After countless phone call attempts and several emails. I finally get a response from someone giving me an address to return the unit to and a message stating that I would receive a new unit in the next week. Well, I box it all up, send it to the address (with confirmation number). A week goes by, nothing. I track the package and they tried to deliver it, but awaiting for someone to pick it up. This made me suspicous. So I send a couple more emails (don't bother the using the phone) and FINALLY, I'm told I'll receive a unit the next day. Well, I got a new unit in a soft envelope, nothing else ( no cable, no carrying case, batteries, charger etc). So, now I have sent several more emails , trying to get my accessories back. BTW-I did confirm that they finally picked up the package.
I decided to google earth the address, just as I suspected, a residential address. If you check (google) the available real estate at this address, you'll find other residents for sale. Confirming that is a residential complex.
The address at the Hyperdrive.com site is:
HyperDrive.com
c/o Sanho LLC
615 Arcadia Terrace #104
Sunnyvale CA 94085

I don't know, maybe these guys have good intentions, but what a PITA this has been to replace my unit. I just wanted everyone here to be aware.

Even though I read your e-mail before ordering my Hyperdrive, I thought what the heck, chances are I'll get a good one. Well now that I've received mine, I'm having several problems with it. Error 20, communication issues with my PC when trying to transfer files. I've e-mailed them several times and they have yet to get back to me with a response (other than we've received your e-mail and will try to respond within 24 hours, blah, blah, blah). Really frustrating, since I'm leaving on a three week vacation in several days and I am relying on this unit for storage.

Has anyone else had any issues with their Hyperdrive??

P.S. I was really impressed with the speed and overall build, accesories, etc.... but now - who knows, time will tell.

Ron

sorry to hear that Ron. I did get a new unit and it does work very well. If I have any other problems with it, I'll trash it before dealing with those people again.
Good luck

did you read the manual? error 20 is a battery issue. make sure you have a full charge or you have the AC plugged in when transferring to the PC. remember this is not a flash drive and needs a considerable amount of power.
