Thanks but aren't we all love it in a natural setting? Like I said the store owner of the fruits stand in the corner of an intersection been feeding them for 8 years. I had my camera with me so I took some pictures. They are so nice to watch keep coming back in that trunk with full of walnuts.

I didn't mean to offend. I even thought you might appreciate a comment other than the usual "Nice, Peter", "Good shot, Peter", etc. I get comments like that and they are truly not helpful.

When birds are attracted by feeding them, the birds often perch in nearby trees before they come down to feed. I suggest if possible that you get some shots of them in the trees instead of on a steel wire.

I don't know, maybe there wasn't a tree within a mile of where the birds were. But usually Stellers Jays are found in and around trees. It's just a guess of mine that there might have been better opportunities for pictures there.

Not offended at all. There was trees around but this fruits stand is soO close by the street (corner) so the birds tends to perched in the wire. I took a shot since I am member of bird in a wire group in flickr. :)

Thanks for that explanation. Makes good sense now.

Did you enjoy BC? I was there too a couple of months ago (and also got pics of Steller's Jays :)).

I did actually, accept on our first day we witnessed 2 teens drowning and I am not a very good swimmer so I just kept yelling help help and screaming like crazy and finally 3 gentlemen save the 2 teens one of the guy said if it they were late 2 minutes it could have been worst.
Both were okey the ambulance took them to the hospital. Even though I did not swim to save those teens the lady that was with them thank me for screaming so loud asking for help...I told her I panicked and got hysterical. :)

Back to Steller's Jay, I see about 3 or 4 in my backyard (Seattle) but never seen so many like that, even in our campground you can see and here them but it is all up in the trees and it is all shaded it is waste taking their pictures from our camping ground.

I enjoyed your jays, Peter, especially the bright-eyed last one, but the store owner is mistaken. Those aren't walnuts. They're hazelnuts.
