I was just wondedring whether it might be on Canon's list of things to do... to produce an bottom-booting rangefinder now that Leica has got stuck so far behind, might there not be a market for a fantastically sharp digital rangefinder? I know Leica and Epson tried one or two but they're a bit behind the times technologywise! Canon could make so much betteer a job of it I'm sure if they turned their minds to it!

So is it technically possible to fit a FF 17MP sensor into a rangefinder sized camera? After all, there'd be no need for mirror etc which makes up the bulk of a DSLR. The we could either buy Leica galss or canon could make their own.

The price alone would prevent it competing with canons P+S range

Possible, but unlikely, 35mm sized rangefinder cameras are a very niche market.
Why exactly would they need to?
Canon do SLRs, a rangefinder body would have to have a lens range to go with it - would Canon want anything less than their own lenses..............
There was a range - a very wide range of Canon rangefinders from the 1930s to 1965, using Leica screw and culminating in the 7S which had a 50/0.95 standard lens as an option...............Very collectable.

It's all possible, but canon probably isn't going to do it.

just had a thought off another thread - how long to wait until we can get FF sensor implants aligned with our optic nerve and a CF card slot in our bonces?

Just blink and its a wrap!

What about longer lenses?
I want one of those borg eye lense thingys
