if you come across something that you think is a good deal, but you don't know if it's a good deal...it's probably not a good deal...check ebay's completed listing for an idea of how much the lens would be worth.
if you're trying to buy it to sell it you should really have some grasp of what the actual value is before deciding if it's a good deal...and then see if the actual money you might be able to get would be worth it...for me if the lens sells for $400 normally, i wouldn't bother taking the time to make a possible $75, others are probably different.
i would look at something in a canon mount, you can find a sigma or tamron 70-200mm f2.8 for probably less than $500
i've got an old sigma 70-210mm f2.8 that i'll probably sell in the next bit for like $100(the aperture is broken, so it's stuck 90% wide open)...but it doesn't work at all on my 70D, works on the 40D, but throws an error after one shot, and works on my 5Dc...when i say works i mean it's only at f2.8(probably more like f3.2)...and it's not the best IQ, but can work with some added contrast.
