Ive come across what I am not sure could be a good deal. Someone on CL is selling a Sigma 70-200 HSM (Non OS) for $325. Ive never attempted to mount a Nikon on a Canon mount but I am also having trouble finding info on this lens. Seems there are about 4 different versions and the one I am looking at listed 'Sigma DG 70-200mm F2.8 Macro HSM' shows up less than any other version on my web searches. Does anyone have any insight on this conversion, lens etc? Is this a good deal or a hassle? Thanks

It's not going to work. Nikon manual lenses can be adapted to Canon mount, but you can't actually change a SIGMA made for Nikon to function with AF, control the aperture etc.. on a Canon.
they just don't make them that way.

What if I don't want the AF, if im just trying to have some decent glass for the focal length? If not, does this lens have any value perhaps to other Nikon users? 300 bucks for anything 70-200 2.8 seems like a steal if I buy and sell it? thoughts

if you come across something that you think is a good deal, but you don't know if it's a good deal...it's probably not a good deal...check ebay's completed listing for an idea of how much the lens would be worth.

if you're trying to buy it to sell it you should really have some grasp of what the actual value is before deciding if it's a good deal...and then see if the actual money you might be able to get would be worth it...for me if the lens sells for $400 normally, i wouldn't bother taking the time to make a possible $75, others are probably different.

i would look at something in a canon mount, you can find a sigma or tamron 70-200mm f2.8 for probably less than $500

i've got an old sigma 70-210mm f2.8 that i'll probably sell in the next bit for like $100(the aperture is broken, so it's stuck 90% wide open)...but it doesn't work at all on my 70D, works on the 40D, but throws an error after one shot, and works on my 5Dc...when i say works i mean it's only at f2.8(probably more like f3.2)...and it's not the best IQ, but can work with some added contrast.
