So I'm contemplating using a new logo as I'm give serious thought to getting more into kid/family photography. There's a big market here for that, especially for children. My current logo is great for ME, but I'm thinking I want something that will appeal to the family/kid photography market. I've come up with a few concepts and would like your opinions.

Give it to be straight. "Like it", "Hate it", "It sucks"....let me know. I like the direction these are going but I want an outside unbiased opinion. I've got 3 concepts so far. My concerns:

1) Would it appeal to the market I'm looking to aim it towards?
2) Are the colors too bold?

And just for comparison here's my current logo. I love it. It speaks to who I am...I'm a pilot and I love flying, but I don't think this logo says "family photography".

I don't care for your new ones. Why not just not use the "wing" part of the logo and use just your name and 'photography' for your "people" business? This way you still retain some of your current branding. :)

Is there a significance for you to the Fleur de Lis?? To be honest, they all seem a bit "busy". Maybe its just all the colors. I think #1 without the gold design and have the type all the same color is a winner.

I thought about that, but it just doesn't look right to me. Maybe because I'm used to seeing the text with the "wing". But I'm open to it, so here's what that looks like. It just looks plain to me...but maybe that's a good thing.

No, no significane for the Fleur de Lis other than I like them. I was just looking for something to spruce it up a little...something ornamental. Maybe the color is enough to spruce it up? The crimson and gold colors do have a significance for me, they're the colors of USC. Do I NEED to use those specific colors? No. I just like that color combination. I originally used a softer teal and green combo but I thought it looked a little too feminine. Is the crimson and gold too bold?

You're a photographer, so you probably tell people that if they want good photography to use you instead of doing it themselves.

Look into hiring a designer for your logo, or at least one of those internet logo design places.

I did hire a designer for my current logo. So glad I did. "Elegant simplicity"...I like that. You don't think it would need a little splash of color?

Not necessarily. A black and white logo gives it a classic look, IMO.

Only thing I'd do is fix the kerning on "photography" and maybe increase it a bit.

When it comes to logo design: less is definitely more.

I like the simple one best. It's fine like it is but I would want to take a look at it with the "photography" in a light grey. Lose the gold for sure but a little of the deep red might work.
