Topaz

I am new to photo editing and only have lightroom 4. Would I be getting in over my head if I were to get the full set of the Topaz plug ins? I am just a hobbiest and wanting to learn more on the editing side of photography. I am looking for some input and direction.

In your place I think I would recommend getting some form of Photoshop (elements would be fine) or paint shop pro first. Once you are used to concepts like layers and masks, selections etc, then the Topaz plugins really come into their own

This sounds like very good advice. Having recently purchased Topaz Adjust, it is much easier to use with at least a basic familiarity with Photoshop Elements. I find for me: LIghtroom (4), PSE, maybe a touch up with topaz, then save my image.

The advice above is good, but Topaz Adjust is on sale at half price until the end of this month and at $25 it's a steal. I don't think learning Adjust would be harder than learning layers in PSE
