Everything else - 10fps, pro-level AF, etc. - is more-or-less expected of a modern action camera at this level.

if Canon doesn't fix their sensors with this camera, there is little to no hope for Canons future cameras...

I realize most people on this site don't care about video, but I'd be disappointed if the 7dMKII didn't have 4k video @ 30fps (minimum). Go Pro and other companies have had 4k video for a while now. 4K video with the duel pixel technology would be fantastic. On the photo side, I'd definitely be disappointed if they just used the 70d sensor(s) with a better AF. Wifi would be nice, but I could do without if I had to.

I still think this camera needs to be a game changer of some sort. Lets be honest, photo only people aren't going to be overly impressed if they use the 70d sensor and people like me who also like to make video's aren't going to be overly impressed if they "upgrade" their video capabilities to 1080p @60fps instead of 4k @30 fps minimum with 1080p @ 60fps minimum as an option.

Even rumor websites have standards. Nikonrumors and Sonyalpharumors are pretty spot on with their predictions quite far ahead from the actual release date. On the other hand, we have Canonrumors spilling things like:
1) Maybe baby 1Dx with 1D series styling, oops maynot not
2) Maybe 20.2mp, maybe 24mp, maybe new tech, maybe not (maybe multi-layer, maybe not multilayer but still new tech?)
3) Maybe 10fps, maybe 12fps
4) Maybe it can AF @f/8, maybe not

Yeah man I am "90 % sure that maybe it can do your laundry or maybe not". Just to cover all grounds guys.

Of course, sarcasm aside that may also have to do with Canon's strict and secretive pre-launch product information control.

Quite. That is not the problem. I just take issue with those who put any stock at all into those rumors. Canon Rumors has never accurately predicted anything. With a batting average consistently at zero, why does anyone bother. Do theses same folks compare cameras using Snapsort?

CR creates buzz, which creates traffic, which sells advertising. The rumors are not the product. The visitors are. They are being sold to the advertisers, with absolutely nothing to show for it. Only in America.

but also don't forget that those companies leak like a sieve, canon on the other hand are tight lipped about everything they do.

But CR needs to evaluate the trust they should but in the rumours.
You, on the other hand, have access to existing data and don't need to guess.

I think it will just be the 70d sensor with a step up in the AF. The camera you guys want the 7dii to be exists already. It's called the 1DX. The only problem is the price.

The pixels are also too big for focal-length-limited shooting.

I think you guys are being a little harsh here on the 70d's sensor. Having shot it, I found it quality to be outstanding in comparison to the 7d - colors were better, noise was lower and easier to clean up, plenty of size for cropping. What I did not like was the overall design of the camera as far as button layouts, no joystick.

To me, throw that sensor with 1/2 a stop in ISO improvement, dual card slots (2 x CF or CF/SD), better focusing and a normal button layout, 10 FPS in a 7d build body and it would be a pretty darn good camera.

What's the market for a 7dII? It needs performances at least between 1dIV and 1dx to sell, where the 5d already stands. Add 4K video (most EVFs have it now), and maybe wifi or GPS and Canon can't sell it cheaper than the 5d! Or they need to updgrade ALL lines! 1d, 5d, 7d.
