I'm glad you posted this twice, once for each of the two people walking the planet that haven't heard this one before.

approx £1,500

Assuming this long running rumour is true, I imagine £1500 to be optimistic.

The article says an expected $2400, to get the UK price, change the $ to a £.

...and then divide by 1.5

70-200 f2.8 IS II
B&H - $2500
WeX - £1700

Of course, if you're a pro then you can claim the VAT back, which makes the UK price even cheaper. Indeed, most of the time it turns out to be substantially cheaper than the US price.

I'd be surprised if it's that cheap at launch. Interested, but surprised!

Yup. Longest running rumor in Canonland. The 100-400L Mk II is as elusive as Bigfoot. I'll believe it when I see an actual announcement.

The "7DII" with the "100-400L II" would be a cool happening especially announced at the same time, but they are both LONG LONG time rumors. With the price changes and such on the 7D, I do see the "7D II" rumors as getting more likely but still no telling just how wonderful these two items will really be if they really do come out. Until we can get them in our hands they remain simple myth.

I already see the ad:

"The NEW 100-400mm II from Canon... so good you can shoot Bigfoot with it!"

Nobody is shooting the messenger; it's just good-natured ribbing.

I didn't mean to post it twice --if you had read one of the posts correctly i did add that i was unable to delete one of them.
Oh well never mind ,i had rather hoped it was good news but not to worry.
Oh and no --i hadn't heard this rumour before either so apologies for not being quite as up to date as you .

And if Trumper's rumor turns out to be right this year, all of us should pitch in a buck or two for him as a compensation for "ribbing" to help him buy that thing! :-)

New business plan:

1- Set reminder on calendar to post new 100-400 rumor to POTN weekly.
2- Accept offer from Lbsimon to collect $2 per person who complains about new rumor thread.
3- Purchase the 100-400 mk II in July 2035 when it is released with the funds collected.
