I now plan to place a camera in front of the wedding couple going forward if O can, that is if the church allows?:)

I already have (1) Pocketwizard TT1 and (2) Flex TT5.

My first thought is to just get the 2 cables needed for my existing gear approx cost $75 CDN

But I also see the Cam Ranger and since I have an Android Tablet and Phone maybe this is better way to go but of course more $$.

I also don't think the Cam Ranger will allow you to have one camera with you and trigger both at the same time???

Any thoughts on my setup needs?

I already have the Pocket Wizards, just wondering whether Cam Ranger or some other Android app would be better?

You don't by any chance have a pair of 600EX-RT's or a one and an ST-E3?
I use this combination to trigger a remote camera (the flash doesn't have to fire)

I use the 603's. Despite the fact that you already have PWs, the cost of the cables is still more than double compared to getting the 603s.

"Better" how? Certainly DSLR Controller at $10 for the app and $35 for the wireless router to attach to your camera (same hardware that CamRanger uses, BTW) is cheaper. You'll be able to see what the remote camera is seeing, but you won't be able to use the setup to trigger two cameras at once. PWs will let you fire the remote from your local camera, getting both pictures at the same time.

The two bodies support remote triggering via the hotshoe but you'd need the newer radio equipped flashes/ST-E3 to use the function.

I watched the PW video and you don't need the new RT600 and ST-E3 as I use the 580EXII and 580EX with my Pocket Wizards you can trigger the camera and flash remotely

Another question? is any tips of tricks to setting up a remote camera on the wedding alter?

1) I would assume multi focus points
2) wide angle lens
3) silent mode
4) pre-position someone for test shots before the session
5) preferred cameras settings ie. Av, Manual etc. etc.

any more tips or tricks in doing this, I have a wedding Sept 6 and of course will test it all before hand but if you have done this I would like to know what you did or what not to do?

thanks.....
