Minolta mount wont work on the regular canon EF/EF-S mount so you're out of luck.

You can sell them to the Sony guys, or you can buy a Canon EOS M, since it's a mirrorless it can work with those lenses. They're cheap as well, like $250-300 new with it's 22mm 2.0 kit lens. the IQ on that tiny camera is just as good as your 70D.

For the record the lenses that will adapt to the regular EF mount are Pentax K, M42(universal screwmount), Yasica/contax and Nikon F.

Minolta MD, rangefinder lenses and Canon FD will not work without extensive modification. Unlike the ones above that just require a cheap adapter.

Minolta MC lenses are the first ones to support aperture-priority metering and control. MD lenses also support shutter-priority and are newer. You should see engraving around the objective element that says something like "MC ROKKOR-X"

That adapter has a correction lens, because the distance from the flange to the sensor is longer than an EF lens. The FD lenses require a similar adapter with a correction lens. The correction lens can usually be removed, but you will not be able to focus to infinity.

Generally speaking, using these adapters with the correction lenses result in image degradation, most noticeably reduced contrast.

Cheers, Damien

I had pretty much the same lenses when I shot film except my tele zoom was a Sakar 80-200/3.9 or something close to that and a crap Quantaray 35-80 something to 5.6 I didn't use much. Forget about trying to adapt these. It's just not worth it. The best thing you could do is buy a reversing ring and use the 50/1.7 turned around attached to your nifty fifty or other lens for macro stuff. However seeing you already own a dedicated macro lens, even that is an exercise in futility.

You forgot Olympus OM and Tamron Adaptall ;)

None of the lenses you listed are worth the hassle imo, TS.

You might consider buying an EOS-M; the Minolta lenses adapt easily with no additional optics required. That's actually what I'm doing. ;) But, as others have indicated, trying to use them with an EOS SLR is probably not going to give a satisfying result.

They're not garbage lenses, just nothing that special. I wouldn't bother converting them for Canon because it's a PITA, if you have a mirrorless body though, definitely go ahead and get an adapter, they're so cheap that there's really no reason not to imo ;)

No, guaranteed they are not garbage! I used my Minolta Rokkor lenses for some 30 years and they did a great job. Like you, I wanted to give them a bit more life in the digital age and it's definitely still an option.

I knew I was forgetting one! I don't consider adaptall one though, since that's a modular system and falls into a number of mounts so it's included with the others, as is the T mount used by microscopes/telescopes. Fun stuff
