Just excitedly received my Godox RS600P from Hong Kong via eBay UK. No customs to pay, £320 all-in. Thought I’d be that ‘early adopter’. Unfortunately, after literally ten minutes of playing with it in the house, tried a couple of full-power pops in succession and it’s already come up with the E1 error that plagued the earlier ES600P.

I thought they’d managed to fix the issues on the RS600P with the LED modelling light and bigger/better/more solid body. Seems not. Now I get one pop out of it before it E1′s itself. You have to turn it off and back on for it to fire one flash at ANY power level. It’s going to cost me more to return the unit than the thing is worth.

Anybody else got one of these or the CheetahStand CheetahLight CL-600/Lencarta Safari 2 (all the same things)? Anybody else had the E1 problem? The manual is barely legible Chinglish and doesn't say how to fix the problem. Lencarta suggest that it's a battery low issue in their bumpf about the Safari, but this is a brand-new and fully charged battery...

If anyone has any information on how to solve/sort this problem without sending the flash back to Hong Kong then please let me know!

Yes, I turned it off, unplugged the power cable, reconnected and everything worked fine. This was on the CL-600. Check the power cable to make sure nothing has fallen in the socket...

Happy Shooting:lol:

The manual reads just fine to me. (and its not because I'm chinese) ;)
You turn the unit off and turn it back on and if it problem continues then contact the seller.

E1 problems have been a issue since the old EX600/EX400, but the new version that was produced in August 2014 fixed the issues that the previous versions had. A lot of testing went into finding the problems and a lot of communications with godox to have them fixed.

Tried a full charge and unplugging/replugging lots of times now but to no avail! Think I might have bought a bad 'un! Lots of pros using these so I'm surprised about the lack of info and reviews on them, even the earlier models. Shame really because they look like they'll compete with the Quadras out there, at half the price, but that's no good if they're not working straight out of the box!

This is the latest model apparently. It's the RS600P with the LED modelling light and the bigger head than the old EX600. Same as the Lencarta Safari 2. Shame, I've been looking forward to trying it out. Got the whole 'kid at Xmas' feeling when DHL turned up with it this morning!

Not the newest model. There has seen been an update that is apparently being manufactured now.

If it says X energizer on the side its version 1. Version 2 will not have the X energizer written on the unit.
These are the labels:
EX600
RS600
RS600P ver1 /ver2 aug 2014

It's labelled XExpert on the battery and control unit on top and has a fan in the head which is on when you use the LED modelling light (not had it working long enough to see if the fan will kick in once the head warms up from normal shooting though). Not heard the fan mentioned in any of the literature I've managed to find regarding this light. So I have no idea whether it's an EX600, RS600, RS600P or indeed a version 1 or 2! Whatever it is, I'm more than a little unimpressed that it's faulty straight from unboxing!

I had it on my Safari2, the cost of the safari2 includes a 3 year warranty though, and their customer service is brilliant, I discovered the fault and before the week was over I had a replacement in my possession. Followed up by a call from Lencarta asking about my battery, because it's been known that the faulty controller can kill the battery too (discovered after I'd had the replacement).

The head on the 'new' Godox looks exactly like the head on the Safari2, so what's new or newer is a complete mystery to me.

I'll get a picture done at some point over the weekend, got shoots on today!

But it looks absolutely identical to the Safari 2 and the Cheetah Stand one that they advertise as if it's going to war.

I did upload a video for the seller to see, although it is possibly the worst video of all time. They've forwarded it to Godox to explain the problem and are 'awaiting an responsible'. The joys of buying from FlEabay China. Half the price of the Safaris, six times the problems.

See my above post for buyers remorse! :o

From the description it's this one?
Godox XExpert (external link)

Which is the replacement for the X Energiser, but the head looks exactly the same as the Safari2, with the improved mount and the LED modelling light.
