I'd have pictures of a lot more hummingbirds today if it wasn't for this male Anna's. He chases all others from the yard  They fly through, but don't get a chance to stop.

5DIII + 70-200 f/4L IS. In-flight pics are from about 4'. The perched from about 6'.

1. His head/neck feathers aren't as bright as most other Anna's; his are more orangeish with kind of a dusky patina. Maybe it's time for a good molt.

5. This young male Costa's is the only other I managed to get today. The bully must have been away for a few minutes.

If that's your Arnold Schwartzenegger impersonation, it needs work. ;)

Nice captures of such a wonderful subject! Do you have these birds all year round? The ruby throats I have here are much more tolerant of each others presence the few weeks prior to migrating south.

Costa's all year. Anna's most of the year, except for a couple months in the winter. Black-chinned only from late Spring through mid-Summer. I've seen Rufous only two or three times since we've been in Vegas (22 years).

You should hear it Moose...not too shabby....trust me.....it's not a tumor.....hasta la vista baby.....:)

Moose you have fine captures and great light, perhaps too good.

You need more separation of the hummer from the background. I did two redos. Just another way of looking at it.

I will remove if you wish.
