AHHH! why can't i open a CRW file from a 300D in CS2???

I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I've searched this forum and it doesn't seem like anyone else has this problem. I know there are discrepancies between types of .cr2 files but I am trying to use crw files. what gives? I downloaded the trial version of CS2 and just cannot figure out how to open a CRW file from my 300D. it only says:
"could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"

am I missing a plugin?
do i need to convert this file to a different raw format?
what am I doing wrong?!

I can only guess that the download didn't include the camera raw plug in. Might check under Help > about plugin and see if Camera Raw is listed. If not you can download the latest from Adobe.
