Hi all,

Am about to pull the trigger on one of these lenses and would like to know if the 14mm is as sharp at f/2.8 as the 24mm is at f/2.8? I've seen many samples from POTN member NCHANT and he uses the 24mm and often stitches multiple shots together. Just wondering if I can achieve similar results using the 14mm since I'd rather get it (being wider and cheaper).

The 14 and the 24 is not a good comparison. one is a wide angle and the other is a ultra wide. With ultra wide you get distortions and such. I love my Rokinon and it's uber sharp. Seriously it's sharp but it does have distortion.

The 24 is legendary with its minimal amount of distortion. The 24 is next on my want list.

That's a good point but I'm most interested in these 2 for their coma handling when doing night sky landscape shots. Many night sky shooters here on POTN state that they stop-down the 24 for optimum sharpness to roughly f/2.8-f/3.2.

I'm wondering if the 14mm needs to be stopped-down beyond f/2.8 to achieve similar results. If so, it seems it defeats the purpose of having a fast wide prime for night skies if I have to stop down to say f/4 to get sharp results. This is why I'm asking for a comparison between the two at f/2.8

Oh I gotcha.

All I use my stuff for is taking pictures of test charts and coffee mugs so for me they work awesome at capturing all the clutter on the counters next to the mug :D

Came across this thread when searching for "24mm 1.4" and am curious as to how you like the lens. I'm thinking about getting the 24mm 1.4
