If it is a Latin term, Bovina could be one of the feminine versions of the word. That is the first leap. Philip

If it is a Latin term, Bovina could be one of the feminine versions of the word. That is the first leap. The second leap is Bovina is a small town in my area. There is nothing really significant about the town with the exception of it being in the path of one of the major campaigns of the American Civil War. But it did have one true oddity that occurred there. There was a report of a frozen turtle encased in ice falling from a storm during a hail storm. This turtle is what I think of when I hear the town name Bovina. It is also what I think of when I hear the term "Bovine." I had uncles who were dairy farmers back when dairy farms were common. I was used to hearing the speech of dairy farmers, but I never remember them using the term "bovine." Partly due the word being rarely used, when I hear it I think of the town, not cattle. This must be one of the most tenuous and arcane connections this thread has seen!
