Is this for a crop camera or FF camera? I would say Canon 10-22 for crop or if money is not an issue, the Canon 16-35 2.8L for FF camera.

Rokinon 14mm worked great for me earlier this summer. All manual, but easy to use. I also just got their 8mm fisheye, but have not tried it for night yet. Don't see why it would not work though.

40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things

You want fast as possible for night sky photography. On crop your best option is the Rokinon 10mm 2.8 followed by the Tokina 11-16s and the Rokinon 14/2.8. The Sigma 18-35 is not ultrawide but the 1.8 aperture will really help.

On FF the Rokinon 14/2.8 and 24/1.4 are probably the best. Being a crop user, I am not familiar with how well the Canon 16-35/2.8 or Tokina 16-28/2.8 do in the coma department but here is a great website that does a lot of night sky equipment reviews:

Also Samyang 16mm f2.0 - faster but less wide than the f2.8 UWAs.

6D (normal), 6D (full spectrum), Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC, 135L, 70-200 f4L, 50mm f1.8 STM, Samyang 8mm fisheye, home studio, Fast Stacker

For crop, I have seen reviews of the rokinon 10mm as having extremely soft corners wide open- no bueno. I'd go with the Tokina 11-16, it's pretty much the standard for photographing the night sky on crop bodies.

For full frame, lots more options. The Rokinon 14mm is good, I absolutely LOVE my tokina 16-28, Canon 16-35, etc.

The 10/2.8 is very new. I haven't seen a review. Do you have a link?

Heya,

Tokina has the night ultrawides. Otherwise, Rokinon/Samyang.

11-16 F2.8 Tokina is excellent for ultrawide, night sky.
Rokinon 14mm F2.8 for full frame is one of the better options.

Very best,

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that it is for FF body.
And I am looking for f/1.4 :(

Currently checking on Canon 14/f2.8 II, Leica R 15/2.8 II, Zeiss 15 f/2.8, Nikon 12-14 is great but it is f/4.0 & can't use on EOS :(

Tried the Samyang... but it is too soft, don't like it at all, the image away from the center is :(

Isn't IS a big big benefit for this type of photography. If so, I recommend 10-18 IS STM.
I think you will get lower ISO than the Tokina.

Not really as a tripod should be used for night sky shots.
