Wonder if the prices will drop in Canada too? Figures, since I just bought my 400 2.8 IS II two weeks ago.

Wow, this is a rarity! It's great to see prices heading in this direction versus going up!

Indeed. I can't help but wonder if Canon is trying to make their "system" look more attractive vs Nikon/Sony... meaning, they have no answer to Exmor.

This was my first thought too. Drop prices because nothing new coming at Photokina.

LOL at those reviewers who said the 24-70 F4 IS was "worth every penny" at $1499. It was massively overpriced, and a drop to $999 means Canon eventually agreed and has now put the 24-70 closer to a realistic price.

Are you within the return window? Also, a good portion of the internet retailers will do a price match if the price lowers within a certain number of days. You'll need to check your store's policy for more details.

Yup. And price drops are usually an indication for me that new products are imminent.

Last night I decided to buy a 100-400, as it had a $200 mail-in rebate. This morning I went online, and the rebate was gone. What a reduction! (Sarcasm intended).
