Smaller apertures will get you greater depth of field; more of the subject in focus. So, f/11 will be much better than f/4. Still, don't count on getting the entire bug in focus unless you're shooting directly from its side. The more you angle away from that, less of the bug will be in focus.
The alternative is stacking several images, shot at small differences in focus points. But for that, a tripod and focus rails is usually needed, along with stacking software. There are some folks with very steady hands than can do it handheld, but I'm certainly not one of them.
