ID the Hawk please.

Pretty sure this is a hawk or a harrier but it doesn't quite match up with the ones I'm familiar with.

I don't know the location where this raptor was photographed so nicely Carl, but based on tail length and feather morphology I'd say it's very Cooperesque. I'll warn you though, I've been known to be wrong! :)

Thank you, Location is the Pacific Northwest. Just north of Seattle (Whidbey Island).

Juvenile Cooper's Hawk. Well done Carl. Cooper's have a more fierce look than Sharp-Shinned Hawks, are larger and have much heavier legs.

Thanks John, for the positive ID. This is the first Cooper's Hawk I've seen up close. Definitely a beautiful bird.

They are. The adults are even more striking with dark grey feathers and red eyes.

I'd say it's a coopers, also. I had a juvie hanging around here last year terrorizing the birds at my feeders. Looked just like that one. Nice pic, BTW.
