Need an ID please

I took these images Down at Fulton Harbor close to Corpus Christi , Texas . This little pond was about 200 yards inshore from the beach . This was feeding along side of a Roseatte Spoonbill I was taking pictures of and was not aware it was there til it walked out in clear sight . I thought maybe it was a GBH but it seem somewhat smaller than a GBH but I was at a distance of about 50-75 yards from this bird shooting with a 70-200mm f/4L and it was late evening when the sun was setting . Also these are cropped and resized . Another thing that throws me is the head . It's got a sharp bill and eyes' really stand out , not like a GBH . But maybe I'm wrong so if you know what it is please let me know .
