Am I 'hurting' my 5D3 with the 24-105L

The last few months, I've been using my mirrorless cameras way more than my 5D3. Main reason is I'm somehow not so happy anymore with the iq of my Canon. The lens I use most is the 24-105L. I also have the 70-200IS/F2.8 which is amazing but way too heavy for daily use. But I'm wondering if I'm doing injustice to my 5D3 using the 'inferior' 24105L. I am very much considering to sell the lenses I have now and invest in something that might give me better iq and is better suited for my pictures (lots of indoors, kids).

Any advice? I was thinking about the 24-70/F2.8 (which I still find very expensive), or maybe a prime like the Sigma 50/1.4.

Ohhh, get the 85mm f/1.2L II prime. You'll never be the same.

I quit the 24-xx zooms a long time as I like faster primes with great bokeh.
The 35 1.4 Art is recommended as a base lens, if you want middle telezoom the Sigma 50 1.4 Art.

The 24-105L is a good "slow" lens, but without character...
As said before, the 35mm/50mm/85mm f/1.4 lenses are a great option without being too pricey!

That's odd. Shouldn't pictures be sharper on a 5D3 than on crop with 24-105L? My copy on crop cameras is very sharp. If that's how you're defining great image quality anyway. Post examples?

odd, the 24-105 is a great lens. Even the bokeh is acceptable on the long end for portraits.

I will say, I was looking at the pictures of the a7r/24-70 f4 combo and the sharpness blows away my 6d/24-105 combo.

I have the 5D2 and the 5D3, the 24-105 is better on the 5D2, sounds crazy no ?
But in all case i was not very happy with the 24-105, i kept it because my wife love the range very useful for her, but me ... hum ... i'm a prime guy with very wide aperture )

It's hard to love a zoom if you compare it to a prime that's for sure. My cheapo 50 F1.8 is SO sharp around F2.5 / F2.8 like insanely sharp, which is a stop faster than F4 on the 24-105.

You are right, so i will make a zoom comparison, as i do not like the zoom 24-105, i do love the zoom 70-200 II
Those 2 zoom are both L but one is a piece of crap, the other one is a jewel

So what is it that you aren't liking about it? Sharpness?

Sharpness and bokeh, i found the bokeh quite "nervous", and sure the sharpness does not match the 70-200 nor prime lens, even your 50 f/1.8 as you said is insanely sharp just a bit stopped down and it's only an $100 lens (ok it's a prime so) and i'm sure the bokeh of your nifty is far better/creamy than the 24-105 at same aperture (say 50mm @f/4)
Finally about the 24-105 L it's what ? the only L sold as ... kit lens with camera ... is there a reason ?

But do not make me wrong, it's not a bad lens .

It's just that I'm missing the pop/clarity I used to get from my 7D+17-55/F2.8 combo. Maybe I should just get the 50/1.8. Still, the 70-200/F2.8 stays 99% of the time in my bag, can't clarify why I keep it...
