Wedding Remote Camera Triggering

I plan to use a remote triggered 5DMKIII off to the side of the alter. I have tested the trigger and it works great.

The 2 lenses I have for this are the 17-40 f4 and the 24-70 f2.8 so I am debating with lens to use?

The other issue is focal point, I normally shoot the center point but not sure which focus setting might be best as a remote camera and whether a keep alive setting on the trigger would be best here?

Are you likely to rack that 17-40 to mid range to avoid distortion? If so go to the 24-70 2.8 as best choice.

I could do that, but as you say the 24-70 2.8 might be a better choice, which leaves the other questions I have....

I'd set manual focus to the center of the area the group will be occupying, and the aperture to f/8-11 to cover enough DOF. You can blur the BG later, if desired. You can't sharpen up an OOF subject.
