That's pretty massive. Sigma has been on a roll lately, so it'll be interesting to see how this thing performs.

It's classified as a Sports Lens. Perhaps I need to trade up from my Tamy.

I'm already getting itchy to sell my Tamron .

Well, maybe not quite. Will have to wait for some more solid info, especially price. Just have not been able to bond with my Tamron 150-600 like I did with my old Sigma 150-500 though and will most likely be going back to Sigma if this new one is within reach of my budget.

Will have to wait and see how things shake out. Not going to be in a big hurry and become a very early adopter as I did with the Tamron.

I have the Tamron, but I may switch to this, depending how image samples look, and what the price is.

Also depends on AF performance. The Tamron is hit and miss in that regard, so if the Sigma can AF better and be as good or better optically, without being super expensive, I'd get it.

It's another nice offering and the main thing is it's EQUAL competition. Sure it's heavier, sure it'll cost more but it will be dock compatible and supposedly AF at F8 with their new 1.4 TC which is a plus

and it's beefier. Metal hood. It will come down to IQ. If it's much better and with all the extra options then it will be worth a 500-7000 premium over the Tamron.

Looks to be really heavy though. Having tried the Tamron, I don't think that over 30% more weight is going to be doing the Sigma lens any favours. Mode 2 OS though will be good, especially after the issues I had with the Tamron, and panning at 1/160. Looking to be almost twice the price too.

The Sigma will weigh 1kg heavier than the Tamron (2.8kg vs 1.8kg). That could be factor for some.

All you Tamron guys need to switch, so I can pick up a used Tammy.

Geez way too heavy for me, that's for sure!

The weight is nothing. I use to think the 120-300 2.8 was heavy as can be and now it's nothing.

Yeah, extra weight is no fun. But it's 2 more lbs. Not THAT big of a difference. But hand holding it could stop you sooner I guess. Although I'm almost always on a tripod, so it doesn't matter to me as much.

The weight isn't going to be an issue for me.

If IQ is there and price falls within my reach, I'll own it. Have a mule deer photo trip in November, will keep my Tamron at least until then. But maybe be selling my Tamron to somebody for them to give to themselves for Christmas .
