Just need to share and vent because the person I would normally vent to is the reason for said needing to vent.

My girlfriend gave birth to our daughter on 7/30. At the hospital that day I had my 5D2 with Sigma 35A and then each day after I had my EOS-M with 18-55 lens. She knows obviously that photography is my hobby and has several photos of her daughter that I have taken hanging on her wall.

The day before we were set to leave, and as I was leaving for the evening, the lady from the hospital photo company came in and asked to do the photos. My girlfriend said yes, please. I excused myself and shook my head as I left.

A couple weeks later I get my new Pixma-100 printer and print out a couple pics of her daughter holding our new daughter. Take them over there, give them to her and immediately they are placed in frames and put on display.

Fast forward to hospital photo delivery last week... My girlfriend starts complaining as soon as I walk in her door about how crappy the photos turned out and that she is upset she spent the $60 on a couple baby photos. I just say wow that sucks and walk away. I now realize that as of last night, I have not seen a single one of those photos on display anywhere.

It is frustrating sometimes that people will completely ignore the talents you have in order to pay $$ to someone simply based on the perception that they are professionals. I've had this happen in the past with car repair as well as plumbing, electrical, etc as well.

thanks for the vent.

Was it her money or your money? If it was hers and she isn't asking to borrow some from you, then don't take it too personally because it is her loss... Maybe she'll learn from her mistake and be thankful for what (or who) she has next time.

It was her money, which is why I didn't say a word either at the hospital or when she told me she was unhappy. Some things are better left alone and save the words for when it really matters.
