Hi there, your photos of rugby are superb. I sure would like to get to your standard. Any chance of any advice, would be appericated.
Hi, thanks for the feedback,
this is my method (which is a constant work in progress)
a fast shutter speed with a high iso is better than a slow shutter speed with low iso, you can get rid of noise but a blurry photo will always be blurry
Use AI Servo and single point auto focus
try to get at least 1/1000th shutter speed which may require a high iso (4000-6400) if the lighting is poor
turn off your IS and you'll get better AF speed
over expose by 1/3 or 2/3 and darken the highlights in post processing,
pick your position, normally somewhere from the 22 to the deadball line and shooting into the sun can be a good thing if you check your exposure
Get along to as many club/kids games as you can and practice lots
Oh, and one thing that heaps of people will probably hate, Shoot in J-peg and you'll have less post processing to do
What gear do you have?
