Very nice Peter , nice detail and good brightness . Most time I prefer a little more brighter . I kinda like to project what I see in the scope with my actual eyes' . Kinda like this one of mine : http://home.grandecom.net …ges/Full_Moon%20copy4.jpg (external link)

nice.
Does anyone else ever think 'cantaloupe' when they see these full/near-full moon shots?

I use Canon gear...have several bodies and lenses and am quite pleased with them.

Not unless I'm hungry for cantaloupe which is very seldom . ;)

Thanks all for the kind comments
Celestron I know what your saying. But I prefer a little under exposed to bring out the details lost.
Nice shot too but

Yes I understand what your saying also . I have tried in the past to bring out those same details with the natural brightness of the moon . That was my goal and perhaps someday I will get that chance . Thing is it's very hard to get perfect focus through a large aperture scope when shooting the moon without a moon filter :( .

That's a banging shot!

Can you please explain what you mean by tracked in RA? 1/125 & ISO100 but what lens, body, and F-Stop?

I can't see any EXIF. I am guessing that's with your 60D/400 .. I don't have a 400, but I do have a 70-200 2.8 and a 2X which would put me in the same ballpark on my 7D. It will not be as sharp, but it'll have to do :)

Plus, that 7D+70-200+2X is too heavy for my Manfrotto head .. I have to tighten it real good so it doesn't creep down. Time for a good ball head :)

This shot was using a 600mm telescope as a prime lens@ iso 100 @ f7
Usually a full moon is shot at high speed around 1/600th at iso of 320 and higher (handheld)
My equatorial mount has motor drive on RA(X) axis and Dec(Y) axis to track the moon
So the telescope is actually moving with the moon for this shot.
I doubt any one except a super human could take a shot this sharp at this focal length at this speed and ISO (handheld)
Seems I stripped the EXIF data. I'll post it up tonight

Much better ! Good exposure without over brightness , very good detail without over-sharpening like many do . Good example here . Also a HINT if you like to bring colors out on the moon this would be a very good sample to do that with , just i wouldn't go crazy and over-do the colors . Thanks for posting .

Thanks alphamalex.
I think ISO 100 with no noise helps. It looks as smooth as the moon through the telescope.
Otherwise we have to resort to higher ISO and speeds. All adding to noise
