A couple of times over the last year I have responded to craigslist adds that were close but not quite of the "too good to be true" variety. In each case the emailed response was that the person had already sold the item but that I should look at some penny auction site because they got a great deal there. The posting is essentially an advertisement for beezid, quibids or one of the other penny auction sites

No bragging list - I just rent whatever the job requires.

Craigslist anonymizes your email address.

But if you reply to your replied message your email address in the first message will be shown.

Not any more, your replies all go through CL then over to the recipient.

Two scenarios:

1. If you reply to a message in your INBOX then your email address will not show up.

2. If you replied to a message from your SENT folder, your email address will be shown on the forward section. For example, you just sent a reply, but you forgot a few details instead of replying again to the message in your INBOX folder, you decided to go to your SENT folder and replied to the message you just sent.

That could happen, however limited that situation might be, however most cl spam bots were designed to pull the reply email header for the email address to fill a database, and would not know to look at message content to pull an errant real address that made it thru.

Fishing for email address is absolutely pointless nowadays with bottomless email services and working spam filters. Being annoyed by the spam is soooo 90s ;)
