Now it's time to sell my Sigma 120-300 / 2.8 OS. My back can not take the lens and the big bag it requires. I have been very pleased with the lens.

Now the problem.

I work for a local company where I do not want to rip out my new 6D too much, so a backup camera would be good. But I also want to have a tele :)

My thoughts:

I can either buy a similar package:
Canon 70-200 / 4L + 1D MKII or 50 / 60D as a backup camera + 50 / 1.4 USM (all used)

or

A brand new Tamron 150-600 and wait for a backup camera later.

What do you think?

I would think exactly what do I want to do and which will help me right now. That way I could be out shooting and getting pictures now with my correct needs met right now.

Other options, but nothing that is really going to cover the hole that the 120-300 2.8 is going to leave, especially if you used the f2.8 to f4 range.

Canon 55-250 stm (very good lens for the money) + backup crop
Sigma 50-500 OS
Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS + 1.4TC
Canon 70-300L

Perhaps a silly question but in your type of shooting, can you use a cart of some sort? If so, you can check out the Rugger Gear carts. I use mine to tote my gear when I'm out and about but the paths I'm on are usually semi-smooth so it's easy to wheel around.
