I have been checking Canon's refurb site daily, sometimes several times a day for this lens. It never seems to be in stock. Am I wasting my time? Has anyone ever gotten this lens refurbished? It is rare to find used, also.

For some reason it is just not getting the focus (pun intended) that it should. It is good enough that it allowed me to sell my 24-105L and replace it with the 24 f/2.8 IS, 40 f/2.8 (I already had 85 f/1.8 and 135L). - Keith

I've been shooting my 17-40 looking for how wide I want to go. 24mm seems about perfect, wide with little distortion. I'll watch the sales here, too. Sep 09, 2014 01:55 | #7 B&H has them (new) and the price isn't bad - $50 over the all time realistic low. Canon lens prices have come down as of last week, so this might be a great time to pop for a copy before the exchange rate goes back up; and it will.

Former employee? Just checked B&H. $599. I am cheap. I'll wait for used/refurbished. WARNING: I often dispense advice in fields I know little about!

Sep 09, 2014 03:52 | #11 OK, thanks. Your username was all too close to someone I had in my employ in the 80's. "Krass" was what I thought your last name might have been. Sorry to bother you with the question.
