Good point mentioned but let me add to this . When the moon is 98-100% the greatest challenge is getting a good focus that is sharp . I've tried hundreds of times and it's hard without a moon filter . Therefore under-exposure slightly is the trick to a good image in this case but a very slight amount of sharpening can bring out a small amout of detail without making it over bright . What you want to watch closely is the crater edges . Even tho the moon is full the craters will still have a small edge with sun reflection being brighter . Watch these edges closely when raising the exposure or sharpening . Your best bet is to have the image enlarged 100% to see edges better .
