Canon Rebate - Didn't Save the Box

I bought a lens a few weeks back (135L) and still need to do the rebate. Only now am I realizing the form asks for the UPC bar code from the box; you know, the box that I already tossed away.

Has anyone else had to deal with this? Will they not simply accept the serial number? I mean there is only one of them.

Thoughts/experiences? Thanks.

I think they want the code from the actual box to stop people using any serial number found on the internet or from a friend etc.

Call Canon and see what they might be able to do for you. Having your receipt for the purchase may be helpful.

I always keep all my boxes, I figure just in case I have a problem, or for resale. I just sold my T1i that I put back in its original box with all the packing.

I think the serial number might work. I think my brother had a similar issue where the UPC was lost by canon and using the serial number, was able to get the rebate.

I recently bought a 35 f2 is lens and sent the UPC from the box and the sales slip copy to Canon and did the online pre-rebate. They just emailed me and said the UPC and sales slip copy never arrived.
I can't find a copy of the cutout from the box, they just had me email them a picture of the lens, serial number on the lens and another copy of te sales slip. I am hoping they accept it since I don't have a copy of hte UPC
