The local eagle babies have just fledged in the past couple of weeks, and Mom appeared to be out showing junior where to fly, where to perch, etc. Mom was sitting patiently and watchfully on one side of the river, while the young one screeched its way up the other side of the river along the treeline, before landing in a pine tree for a rest....and to continue screeching. I'm sure it was feeling it was going to be left alone ;) I don't think Junior has ever seen a biped in a boat before, he couldn't quite figure me out.

Can't fault those Ian. Super series of shots. How many juvenile Eagles do you reckon have fledged this year in your area?

Thanks very much Mark. I'd guess there are around 7 or 8 young ones that fledged this year within about 5 niles of where I live.

Thanks Sandy. I've been waiting for a nice day like this with a nice high tide for one of my last trips down the river.

Just beautiful. I think my mating pair have returned. I just spotted two this afternoon. They have been missing for about four months now. They must not like the hot weather here in Florida.

Thanks Ira, glad to hear yours are back too. I know the pair in North Fort Myers goes north somewhere for the summer too, but they have arrived back in NFM and are currently doing their nestorations.

Ian, maybe the next time you are in Florida we can get together, Fort Meyers isn't that far from Jacksonville, and you could give me some pointers. But with only a 7D and a 100~400 I could not expect to match your photos, they are always great. :D

How inspiring it must be to be around these majestic birds Ian.
It's amazing to me how the Mom in your 1st image seems to jump out of the background with such wonderful clarity. Impressive capture and presentation.
And what can you say about the kid. I got the best chuckle out of your last image with that "what are you looking at" pose. I suspect there'll be more like that too....we hope.
