Ian, maybe the next time you are in Florida we can get together, Fort Meyers isn't that far from Jacksonville, and you could give me some pointers. But with only a 7D and a 100~400 I could not expect to match your photos, they are always great. :D

Sounds good Ira! Not that long ago I was also using a 7D and 100-400.

Ian,
Your eagle series are all so outstanding and this set is just another wonderful example!

Thank you Carol.

How inspiring it must be to be around these majestic birds Ian.
It's amazing to me how the Mom in your 1st image seems to jump out of the background with such wonderful clarity. Impressive capture and presentation.
And what can you say about the kid. I got the best chuckle out of your last image with that "what are you looking at" pose. I suspect there'll be more like that too....we hope.

Thanks Steve, eagles as you know are my favourite subjects. I'm actually not that happy with the Mom shot, as she was in total shade and it was tough to expose properly. The young one was great....he flew in, landed, and sat there for awhile. I even cruised away upriver for 10-15 minutes to see if there were any more around (there weren't) and when I returned, he was still there looking around.

Well done Ian. Excellent clarity in these images.

Many thanks, Brad.

These pictures blow my mind, you are so lucky. I dream of the day I get to see eagles like this.
