Looks like the zoom and focus rings turn the Canon way. This is a big plus, for me at least, over the Nikon turning Tammy version.

Sport model I could see coming in at 2000 while the contemporary model could come in around 1300. we'll see. I definitely like it though. It's the same lens but not. one heavier, better without any compromise and the lighter version sacrifices a bit on IQ/build probably very similar to the Tamron model that may be too close in price, I'de grab the sport model every time. snake0ape Goldmember More info | Sep 12, 2014 10:17 | #18 There seems to be a trend here. Tamron and Sigma in the past year are making lens that are on par or better than the once untouchable quality of Canon or Nikon AF lens. Reminds me when suddenly japanese cars in the 1980's took over with better and cheaper quality cars. 5Diii | 50D | 8-15L 4| 16-35L 2.8 II| 24-70L 2.8 II | 70-200L 2.8 IS II |Tamy 150-600 | Σ35Art 1.4 | 40 2.8 | Σ50Art 1.4 | 85L 1.2 II | 100 2.8 Macro | Helios 44-3 58mm f2.0 |Helios 40-1 85mm f1.5 | 1.4x & 2x teleconverters

I can adapt the nikon 14-24 if I were to do that, and then I'll be stuck dealing with 150mm filters....... no thanks, not interested. Love the idea of 15mm F2.8 stabilized, but too much trouble. Based on prices announced in the UK for the sports model (posted on CR), the equivalent US price would be $2600. Not a competitor for the Tamron, but maybe the other one will be. It would have to be less than half the Sport price to get to the Tamron point. Can you briefly explain "bulb element lens"? Neither I nor Google know what this is. The front element looks like the top part of a light bulb. It sticks out past the lens body a little so you cannot use screw on filters.
