My tripod head is loose Manfrotto 410)

After not using for a while I saw that my Manifroto 410 tripod head does not stay fixed, but rotates about 5mm either way on the horizontal. Around the silver ring in photo.

Can it be rectified with some DIY?

I have that same head. I just now took it off my tripod to have a better look at how it is put together. I do not see any possible DIY fix for you other than sending it back to Manfrotto.

Perhaps someone else has other ideas....

You can get a parts diagram from Manfrotto; note that they have two diagrams for the 410 depending on the s/n. This link (external link) should bring you to the page. Seeing what parts are available may help you determine the practicality of a repair.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but I was very disappointed in my manfrotto gear or equipment, I bought a induro tripod and Gimble and never looked back.
