SX700 is a relatively new point-and-shoot with a 30x zoom - 4.5mm-135mm - (35mm equivalent 0f 25-750). It is small - quite pocket-able, but not as small as some others. There's a discussion thread about SX700 at this <link>.
These shots are from my 2nd round of shooting.

All pics have been sharpened and noise-reduced the same, and reduced to 1200 pixels. No cropping except where stated.

I only posted so many because it's the intro - I wanted to show the basic capability. I think this camera has a lot of value as a walk-around. Hope to see more pics.

More Detail. In the first pic I didn't realize that this was a mosaic. These were shot hand held from at least a 200' away.

Indeed, the magnification is incredible for such a small device.

Very nice examples! For a carry-in-your-pocket camera, this has a LOT of capability.

Wow - 2 beautiful shots. (There's a mirror building here in Sarasota - I'll post it in a few days).

At least in my mind, Canon has finally nailed "quality" in a big-zoom P&S lens.

Yah, I won't pixel-peep compare it to a nice prime, but I'm much more than "satisfied" with the pics at all ranges of the zoom.

The only thing I am really missing compared to my DSLR is the capability to shoot RAW.
Correcting a color cast would be so much easier in cases like this (shot thru bus window):

But jpg's can be color-juggled.

I wonder what that big blue box is on the electrical tower?

Bought the sx700 HS a couple of months ago and just found this forum. Don't get much time to use camera and as a novice am still very much finding my way around. Because I use it so infrequently, I pretty much stick with auto and have tried a few of the settings on SCN mode. Like what I'm getting so far though and with more time know I'll improve.

The first pic is about 25 meters away. I had to go into digital zoom to get this.

The second pic is about 6-8 meters away. The optical zoom shows here.
