I'd never seen a V22 in real life before this past weekend...only in photos in books and online. I was coming home from a backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierras, and on Hwy 108, I drove past the USMC Mountain Warfare Training Center. Much to my excitement, four V22's were taxiing and one was taking off on the ramp right next to Hwy 108. There is no fence between the highway and the runway, and I was literally about 30' from the ramp where I pulled over. I got a couple photos and a video, although I don't know how to upload a video. I only had a 21mm and 55mm lens, but these guys were close. I gave the pilots a thumbs up as they turned past me.

And a photo from Minaret Lake, on my backpacking trip just for fun:

A slow shutter speed would have really helped these out.

For sure! I literally threw my truck in park, grabbed my camera, and jumped out and started shooting. My camera is new to me and I was afraid of taking time to adjust the settings for fear of having them leave before I got some shots. I should have stopped down to f/16 or f/22 and gotten some prop blur. Next time I will try to avoid having "buck fever".

I usually shoot in manual & set the camera for current conditions before I put it in the car.
Just to cover myself, I also set Tv to the fastest/slowest speed I might need & Av to a wide/smaller aperture which would be the opposite of what I would get with the Tv setting. This means that I can switch quickly if I need to, & I also have an approximate useable setting if I accidentally bump the dial off the M setting.
