Is that a wireless solution or just cable?
Wireless, using the TP-Link TL MR3040 router, £30 on Amazon, in fact Camranger are using a re-badged TP-Link TL MR3040 router

I'm guessing the actual 'body element' is the same, just the guts different. As you note, the buttons are nearly identical to the 5DM3 ... we're only talking .11 lbs (although that is 5%) Wait, it's a different battery? I did not read that.. Oh no! GEAR LIST

The newer batt is higher capacity. Is the newer battery usable in cameras that use the LP-E6? If so, then the battery improvement is really worthwhile. But if the 7D2 is the only camera (for now) that can make use of the new battery, then the improvement, while useful for those with a 7D2, seems more for marketing purposes than anything else. I'm hoping it is like the updates I mention above, where capacity and in some cases communication is improved, but they are backward compatible. In the case of the 1D3 Vs. 1D4/1Dx battery, the changes also mean some small loss of information when used in the 1D3 charger, but functionally it's all good. GEAR LIST

MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | Oct 12, 2014 14:30 | #1555 Joe52 thanks big time for that link to the DSLR controller and TP-Link TL-MR3040. Seems a simple affordable solution to those (me included) who had wished the 7Dii (5Diii, others) had WiFi. The possibility of enhanced stability over in-camera WiFi (70D,6D) is a plus and I'm hoping by stability he means distance, because I've used both the 70D and 6D remotely many times and distance unless line of sight has been an issue. Now my philosophy as an age old backpacker is that anything carried has to have more than one use----so what other functionality can the MR3040 have? Regardless it is ordered via Amazon and thanks again for the heads up. flickr

Which means (I'm guessing here) that the new high capacity battery will also fit 7D and 5DM3 as well -- so, those that use flash or larger lenses might find that useful. I believe this is correct (I read it on the internet - it must be!), the new battery is backwards compatible, the old one can be used too. Yippee!

They don't really tell us as much about the comparative image quality if shooting RAW and processing properly. You can download the RAW files from IR and do your own processing for what might be a more accurate comparison. Here's a comparison by TeamSpeed using the RAW files - https://photography-on-the.net …?p=17190415&postcount=128 What they do tell you is the 7Dii files at ISO above 800 are going to need allot more PP just as the old 7D files did. The 7d ii will have a resolution advantage to some extent at low ISO but as the ISO climbs the 7d ii detail and sharpness decrease as compared to FF or 1.3 crop sensor in the1D bodies. Remember the 1D files will also improve with PP from the raw file. You are comparing the same type of output file from each of the cameras listed. Real world use will be interesting to read but I am expecting the conclusion to be the same. Lots of my wildlife shots are at higher ISO and sharpness at the pixel level is what allows a print to be enlarged successfully. It will be interesting to hear the results once the 7Dii gets into more people's hands.

The new battery is only nominally higher capacity than the current battery. But the shape is the same, so that they are fully interchangable.
