I just cannot believe that the 7D2 is so close to the 7D in everything, one would have thought it would have shown some sort of improvement in 5 years.

It is a lithium rechargeable, chances are it would outlast your desire to own the camera, and the next 2 owners after you. Pop a good battery in, and it will charge that onboard battery. If you are being serious, which I cannot tell, since my post you replied to was tongue in cheek, then I don't understand where you are coming from. The noise characteristics on the 7D2 are some of the most film-like (along with the 70D) that has ever been seen on an APS-C body to date.
