Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not the 7d2 release will have any impact on the price of any of the other Canon bodies like the 1D X? :)

1DX price has already dropped. Loads of action on eBay for new bodies for around US$5000.

I don't think it's because of the 7D2 but perhaps more to do with the 1DX coming towards the end of it's refresh cycle.

Looks like availability is locked in for October 30th from Amazon & Best Buy. 8-)

Can anybody explain why such a price difference on the BG-E16 grip on Amazon vs B&H. The extra battery is also inflated on Amazon.

Supply and demand at the time of stock orders and/or preferred/hoped for profit margin come to mind. It will only be speculation on our part as I doubt either company is going to give us an explaination.

Most companies will 'match price' tho -- could be a 'gimmick' to raise the price, THEN appear to give a discount later. I'd expect a lot of people never 'shop' past Amazon, believing it gives the best value, when it often does not.

70D? Yes
1D4 used prices? Most likely yes, probably down around the $2200 price point
7D used prices? Absolutely, but more so once the street prices reach $1400 or so.

Very true. I've found local stores with identical items in stock that were cheaper than Amazon, even after paying sales tax.

Whoever would buy used 7D at $1400 would not very well be inform, when you can buy a 7D2 which is better in every way for $1800 and not to mention CUSA warranty. I still wouldn't think a used 1D4 would go down to that point early, maybe an extremely beated up one.

I'm pretty sure he was saying when the 7d2 hits the used market at $1400.

Lovely Great Egret portrait. Art's complaint: "too much reach".

Yep, Amazon.com is not always the lowest price and are often beat right on the amazon.com site by other sellers. There is more to it sometimes than price and amazon.com service is one of the best.

I have pre-ordered on amazon.com with one day shipping for $3.99 (I subscribe to amazon prime) and was happy to see the availability change from November 28 to October 30 (just two weeks from today).

I seem to recall that amazon was one of the slowest in actually shipping cameras when the 70D first shipped. I think B&H was the first. It will be interesting this time around to see who starts getting cameras and when. I have an interest in process this time around as I am one of the folks waiting for the UPS/FedEx truck.

I pre-ordered from Adorama in the morning of day 1. They are shipping overnight Air. I fly to the Galapagos on Oct. 30. It sure would be nice if the camera showed up before my trip (although I'm not holding my breath).

For going on a trip, I would rather use something I already familiar with rather than something new and shiny.

Normally I would agree with you, but I have my 7D as my primary body. I'm renting a second from LensRentals, but I would be just as happy to have the 7D2 (with my familiar 7D as the second body if I get in trouble).

I can understand how you feel. I'd feel a bit intimidated taking a new camera on such a trip as there will certainly be a learning curve. Possibly not as big a deal for you moving from the 7D to the 7D2. I don't know the circumstances of your trip but I find sometimes the days go by so fast there would be little time to "play" with a new camera to learn all the features. Have a great time with whatever camera you take a long.
