The launch price is simply stunning. Consider this:

(2008) 5D II launch price: $2699
(2012) 5D III launch price: $3499

(2009) 7D launch price: $1699
(2014) 7D II launch price: $1799

The price difference between 5D II and III (3.5 years apart): $800
The price difference between 7D and 7D II (5 years apart): $100

Awesome Canon!! Now, can we see a $2999 5D IV next year? :D

I am so pleased that it doesn't have WiFI. I am also pleased that it does have USB3 :) If I get one, I can't see me using the GPS unless I get lost, so it would remain switched off. That seems to be the only features I didn't want on the 7DII. So the specs I have seen are better than I hoped for and as long as the new Sensor is a decant step up from my current 7D (in the noise area) I will be placing an order in the near future :) Perhaps I am exactly the average person Canon was thinking of?

thats not what GPS is for.

GPS in cameras is used to geotagging for camera to keep track where pictures were taken, this way you can display them on a map.

Can't find any information as to whether the 7DII comes with "Silent" shutter option. On BH site, it states "Electronic and Mechanical Type" in describing the shutter. For 5DIII, which comes with the silent shutter option, it states, "Mechanical Type." So what's the difference between these two?

electronic shutter is completely silent, zero sound.

i bet 7d will use electronic shutter in live view and possibly in "silent" mode.

To me, having the images geotagged so that I years after can see where they are taken is such an advantage that I've actually equipped my 7D with the WFT-E5B grip, a Kensington USB Bluetooth adapter and a Wayfinder GPS puck just to get that functionality. I also have the GP-E1 on my 1DX for the same purpose.

The price difference between 7D and 7D II (5 years apart): $100

Awesome Canon!!

Adjusted for inflation:

(2008) 5D II launch price: $2699. 2012 Dollars $2878.15
(2012) 5D III launch price: $3499

Canon really priced out a premium for the AF system of the 5dmkIII.

(2009) 7D launch price: $1699. 2014 dollars $1886.79
(2014) 7D II launch price: $1799

Basically you get a discount of under $100 for a better camera. Remarkable price point. Rarely when you adjust for inflation is the new price lower.

I am glad that they included that feature (zero sound of the shutter).

As long as you are happy.

Dog forbid you'd switch it off and the rest of us can actually put it to use.

Wex have listed the 7Dii at £1599 and then state "Claim Upto £250 Cashback, see buying options for further details" .......can't find the details though of the cashback! Perhaps this is tied in with the kit deals.

Yes- its if you buy selected lenses... i.e. kits...
